How many watched the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party leadership debate from Ottawa Wednesday night?
Okay, so it wasn’t on mainstream TV, but is that any excuse?

Here is my take in a minute.
Tanya Granic Allen:
Firecracker. Stumbled at the start but gained momentum and spoke strongly for the grassroots hammering at the party elite.
She had the line of the night with, “I’m gonna rip those wind turbines right out of the ground!”
That makes for a great soundbite but I’m not sure fiscally responsible considering money already wasted.
Doug Ford:
Was consistent in appealing to the everyday taxpayer about cost-cutting with no real surprises other than ruffling the party elite, including both Caroline Mulroney and Christine Elliot personally.
Caroline Mulroney:
Held her own but her inexperience was evident. Even Ford acknowledged her future in the party was bright. She finished with a strong closing segment including a portion in French.
Christine Elliot:
Was the consummate veteran. Strong and steady.
When in the closing minutes the gloves came off and barbs were flying between the others, she responded by refusing to get involved, and instead directed their frustration towards the opponent Kathleen Wynne.
Oddly enough, the last request from moderator Althia Raj was for each to say something nice about the rest.
Clearly, Christine Elliot had already thought of that, which may give her a leadership advantage.
