Thomas Harpula, 29, has been charged with the second-degree murder of his father, Janusz (John) Harpula, 60, following a Dec. 20 stabbing incident in upper Stoney Creek. West Haldimand General Hospital has received $460,000 from the Ontario government’s Hospital Energy Efficiency Program. The program is funded through the Climate Change Action Plan (cap-and-trade tax) designated to improve energy efficiency at Ontario hospitals. The Stoney Creek Sabres Bantam BB hockey team recently donated $250 to the Stoney Creek Community Food Bank. Players raised all of the money themselves by bagging groceries at Fortinos, including the Fiesta Mall location in November.
