No injuries after 3-alarm fire at Yonge and Wellesley

No injuries were reported following a three-alarm blaze at a vacant retail building in downtown Toronto. Fire crews responded to the scene around 11 p.m. Monday on Yonge Street just south of Wellesley Street. Toronto fire officials said the blaze was contained to a three-storey building under renovation. Deputy Fire Chief Jim Jessop said the roof of the building collapsed but no injuries were reported. Man dies in hospital after assault at Bathurst and St. Clair

Toronto police are investigating after a man was fatally assaulted in the city’s Wychwood Park neighbourhood. The incident happened just before 12 a.m. on Monday near Bathurst Street and St. Clair Avenue West. Police said they located a male in life-threatening condition. Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after officials say a male pedestrian was fatally struck by an unmarked York Regional Police vehicle. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said in a statement late Monday that the vehicle was on Kennedy Road, north of Highway 7 in Markham, at around 4:30 p.m. when it collided with the pedestrian.
