The city of Brantford remains under a state of emergency as water levels along the Grand River continue to pose a risk of flooding.
City officials said an evacuation order issued on Wednesday will remain in effect until at least 12 p.m. on Thursday.
The affected neighbourhoods include Holmedale, Old West Brant and Eagle Place.
Nearly 2,200 homes and up to 4,900 residents have been impacted by rising water levels as a result of an ice jam upstream of Parkhill Dam that broke away around 2 a.m. Wednesday and caused a surge of water downstream.

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) said a flood warning remains in effect for the community that is nestled between Hamilton to the east and London to the west.
Residents impacted by the evacuation order are being told not to return to their homes until it is deemed safe by city officials.
The Woodman Community Centre at 491 Grey St. and Assumption College at 257 Shellard’s Ln. are being used as temporary shelters for those unable to find a place to stay.

A number of primary roads in Brantford are closed due to flooding. They include:
- Gilkinson Street
- Ballantyne Drive to Daubiny Park
- River Road & Birkett’s Lane (Erie Ave to Baldwin Ave)
- Lorne Bridge
- Veterans Memorial Parkway
Officials have released a full list of street closures. Meanwhile, following buildings and trails remain closed.
- All city trails along the river
- TB Costain
- Market Centre Parkade
- Childs Paradise Too daycare centre
- Eagle Place Community Centre
- 1 Sherwood Dr.
- Entry to D’Aubigny Park
- Brantford Charity casino
- Eagle Place Community Centre
- Woodman Centre for regular programming
Schools in the evacuation zone are also closed due to the flooding risk.

City officials said residents who need assistance with retrieving their pets or medication are asked to call the city of Brantford Contact Centre at 519-759-4150.
