A man has died and a woman has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting outside of a bowling alley in Toronto’s north end, officials say.
Police and paramedics told Global News they were called to PlayTime Bowl and Entertainment, located on Samor Road near Dufferin Street and Lawrence Avenue West, at around 10:10 p.m. on Saturday.
A man, who a Toronto Paramedics spokesperson said is believed to be in his 20s, was found without vital signs. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman, who the spokesperson also said is in her 20s, was rushed to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre with critical injuries.
Hussan Sharqi, a resident from Oshawa, told reporters he was inside the bowling alley at the time of the shooting.
“Everyone was running outside after we heard some shooting … a lot of people were inside, families, basically it was crowded inside,” he said outside of the business late Saturday.
“It’s super scary.”
It’s not clear where exactly the shootings occurred, but the windows at the front entrance of the bowling alley were heavily damaged by gunfire.
Police haven’t released information on suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Toronto police homicide squad at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.
