Major power outage in east-end Toronto affecting thousands of customers, subway service

A widespread power outage in Toronto’s east end is affecting nearly 20,000 customers and has disrupted subway service on Line 2 between Kennedy and Broadview stations Monday morning.

TTC officials first reported the issue around 6:19 a.m. and shuttle buses are operating to move commuters along the route.

TTC spokesperson Brad Ross said trains are running between Woodbine and Kennedy stations in the east. However, trains are turning back at Broadview in the west.

Toronto Hydro is reporting the outage roughly borders Eglinton East, Lake Shore Boulevard, Yonge Street and Victoria Park.

Hydro officials said in a tweet that the issue is due to a loss of power supply from Hydro One.

Toronto Hydro said Hydro One is working to restore power from their end. There is no timeline when power will be restored.
